The Canadian Simply Mobilizing (SM) story began in 2010 with the first Kairos Course being held in Langley, BC with a small group of participants. Many of the participants were moved by the message and believed that God could use this course to mobilize the Canadian Church, but none felt they were the ones to lead the charge. Over the next couple of years, God continued to work until he spoke very clearly to one participant that he wanted to use them for this movement.
In December 2012, after much prayer, over 20 mission leaders from various denominations and mission organizations were invited to attend a Kairos Course, once again held in Langley, BC. Coached by global mentors from the UK, God did an amazing work during this course and, as a result, the Kairos movement began in Canada.
In 2013, the first Kairos Courses were held in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, and Nova Scotia. In 2014, courses expanded to Manitoba and Quebec. Multiple languages have been added and now in addition to English, we have courses running in French, Korean, Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, and Spanish. Seven years later we are a multi-cultural community of over 3000 alumni.
In 2015, along with the rest of the global movement, we began to explore a larger mobilization vision and an expanded toolkit of courses and training materials. We have been carefully rolling out this material as we explore how best to use it in the Canadian context.
We have helped facilitate the launching of courses in Poland, Belgium, France, Burkina Faso, and Cote d’Ivoire and worked in team with others on the translation projects for French and Farsi materials. We have also developed new promotional and course videos for the Kairos Course and The Unfinished Story.
God is doing amazing things with the SM movement in Canada and we look forward to what else He has in store for us! Won’t you join us on this exciting adventure?
