Fifth Wave or Tidal Wave?

Recognizing Canada’s Times (Newcomers & the Church)

1.7 million. In these four years from 2021 until 2024, the newly increased goal by Immigration Canada will be the equivalent of Canada’s fourth largest city, after Vancouver and before Calgary.  We’re in an unprecedented period of time for our nation. Yes, unprecedented. In 2021 we passed all historic records for immigration, even beating out the highest number during the Great Migration of 1815-1850.

This 26 minute video is both informational and devotional, grounding what’s happening in Canada in the Word of God. This was originally presented by Charles Hermelink of the PAOC’s Mission Canada in the International Office’s weekly staff devotional on Feb. 22, 2022. (Please excuse a bit of audio glitches in the second half where someone accidentally unmuted their mic.) The PAOC’s Mission Canada is our home mission agency for mobilizing workers aimed into five missional gaps of Canada: Urban, Francophone, Next Gen, Aboriginal & Immigrants.  Charles serves as the National Coordinator for the Cultural Language Groups Priority which is focused on Immigrants. You’ll find Charles’ contact info at the end of the video.

The Church as a Terminal

In what ways is my church like an airport terminal? Could my church function as a facilitating enterprise helping me on my journey from A to B?

Ron shares 8 ways that his church is like an airport terminal ...

Focus: Equipping God's People for Mission

As a Christian for almost 40 years, I have been taught that the best way to develop mature disciples of Jesus Christ is primarily through Bible-study programs; If people know more, they will act accordingly. Right?

Yet the pandemic, and the subsequent and increasingly divisive behavior of many, have driven me to re-examine that narrative. If our existing discipleship pathway was so effective, why is it that today we see such disunity in the wider church? Why do we see a great dropping off in church attendance and even less regard for Jesus in our communities?

God's Mission is a Movement

God’s mission is a movement - always has been, always will be. The question is, “Will you join it?"

Eternal Rewards

Why do we not think or teach about eternal rewards anymore? God created us for mission, and His greatest rewards are attached to that mission!
